Let me tell you about a girl I know. She also happens to be me. Surprise, surprise!
Most of my life I’ve always felt a calling to do something “more” with my life, even though I didn’t know what that more meant. And I’ve never had the confidence or courage to follow through with the amount of force necessary to succeed. I would get to a certain point, hit roadblocks, and freeze. I felt paralyzed like I couldn’t move. I couldn’t possibly take the next step to get to where I wanted to be.
Basically, I stalled out.
I would start having feelings of self-doubt. I would feel incredibly unmotivated and uninspired which would then lead me down a dark path that only ended in defeat.
If you’re anything like me, then you’re probably sitting there nodding your head along, because you too are familiar with these same feelings.
You see, I have always had these ideas come into my head that were a little outside the box. These ideas felt more like a calling to who I am and my purpose rather than just a hobby or side hustle. Ideas like starting a blog, chasing an old dream, or heaven forbid creating a space for women to connect online. The why behind these ideas are embedded in me, the same way my body knows how to breathe.
Your calling and roadblocks may look different than mine. Maybe, instead of starting a blog it’s taking that new job and moving across the country or falling in love even after you’ve sworn it off or maybe just giving yourself the space to explore what your calling might be.
So, why then is it so hard to follow through on something that is so instinctual? In the next few weeks, I’m going to dive deeper into our roadblocks, what they are, where they come from and how we can move past them, in a series that I’m calling ‘Failure To Launch’.
Next week, we’ll talk more about the actual roadblocks themselves.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me via the comment section or by email/DM. At the end of the series, I’ll be doing a podcast on everything we are discussing plus answering all of your questions.
Thank you so much for your time and I’m excited to explore this topic with you more!
